HATCH is...

a 501(c) (3) organization.  We greatly appreciate any monetary or in-kind donations to continue offering and developing our unique child-centered dance programming.

How you can help...

Dear friends and neighbors,

Hatch Dance Theater is Phildadelphia's youth modern dance program. We are a young 501(c)(3) Nonprofit organization started with a grant from 5-County Arts Fund in 2002 for a year of free children’s dance classes. Hatch was “hatched”!

I ask for your donation and sponsorship. Your contribution will help us make dances, offer more classes and and support our outreach programs. You can also chose to sponsor a Jenks student for a year of free dance classes at Hatch!

Help us continue to emerge,

Germaine Mancke

Or at the Kimmel Center dancing Baroque for Dido and Aeneas presented by Vox Ama Deus in 2007.

Or at First Friday in Old City and the Philadelphia Museum of Art with Headlong Dance Theater.

Kids Care at Woodmere Art Museum?

Dancing on the sidewalk of O'Doodle's Toy Store?

Or at Mascher Dance Coop's In Flux?

Hatch is unique in our programming…

Germaine's thoughts...

After a successful career teaching dance for other studios, I began to develop my own teaching ideas. Why should dancers wait until college to improvise and choreograph and then relearn how to be uninhibited? Kids do it from an early age in their own living rooms.

Why not develop those skills in the dance class?
Instead of teaching how to do a step, I began to teach my students how to take ownership of their creative process through a balance of structure and freedom. I take great care to approach dance from the perspective of both boys and girls. This way of teaching does not exclude any child who may love moving and performing.

Hatch is unique in our outreach…

Our outreach programs are growing rapidly. Still we can do more.
Hatch teaches after school dance and drama at Jenks Elementary which serves Chestnut Hill, Mount Airy and Germantown. We will be teaching this summer at Journey Home a community arts center in North Philadelphia. A portion of our Winter Prelude proceeds were donated to the Bucks County SPCA .

We need your help.
We want to do more for our community.
Your contribution can make it happen in our own town.

We have the generous and unfailing and constant support and encouragement of our landlord and patron Fran O’Donnell, owner of O’Doodle’s Toy Store, 8333 Germantown Avenue in Chestnut Hill, PA.

Without his bighearted generosity along with the support of his wonderful staff Hatch would not be able to do all we do! Thanks Fran!!!! Hatch has arrived!!!

We have arrived artistically that is. Our income and funding do not match our endeavors. As many other young arts organizations - we struggle financially. In January 2007 we were granted our 501(c)(3) status.

HATCH Dance Theater is a Nonprofit Public Charity eligible to request funding from foundations and grants. Your tax deductible donation will help bridge the gap. Please consider making a contribution to a very unique youth dance theater program.
